WHY THIS EXISTS

Weak briefs create
unverifiable outputs.

“Conduct a drone survey” is not a complete scope. It leaves the provider to guess the accuracy, coordinate framework, surface definition, deliverable structure and acceptance test.

A defensible brief starts with the decision, then makes accuracy and validation measurable. Sensor choice follows from those requirements.

DECISION & USE

State the engineering decision the survey must support: concept design, detailed design, quantity certification, as-built verification, inspection or monitoring.

AREA & CONDITIONS

Define boundary, corridor width, terrain, vegetation, access, airspace, operational constraints and any exclusion zones.

COORDINATE SYSTEM

Name horizontal datum, vertical datum, projection, geoid model, benchmark source and required transformation procedure.

ACCURACY & CONTROL

Specify horizontal and vertical accuracy, confidence level, GCP/check-point independence, control survey method and acceptance-test sample.

CAPTURE METHOD

Allow the provider to select RGB, LiDAR, GNSS, total station, terrestrial scan or bathymetry according to terrain, surface and output—not a preferred gadget.

DELIVERABLES

List required formats, scale, contour interval, point density, classifications, breaklines, CAD/GIS layers, metadata and report structure.

QA & ACCEPTANCE

Require completeness checks, residuals, independent check-point results, known limitations, coordinate verification and a documented correction cycle.

SAFETY & PERMISSIONS

Allocate responsibility for access, aviation permissions, risk assessment, method statements, traffic/site interfaces and emergency procedure.

DATA GOVERNANCE

Define hosting, access, retention, confidentiality, ownership, subcontractor controls, export restrictions and deletion requirements.

CHANGE & DELIVERY

Set naming, revision control, delivery schedule, recurring capture geometry, comparison dates and the person authorized to accept outputs.
